Orthomol Natal contains important nutrients to help pregnancy and the development of the child before and during pregnancy and breastfeeding, which are
- DHA: DHA uptake by the mother contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the fetus and infant. Pregnant and lactating women should see a significant positive effect with a daily dose of 200 mg of DHA, in addition to the recommended daily dose of omega-3 fatty acids of up to 250 mg of DHA and EPA.
- Folic Acid: Contributes to normal maternal tissue development during pregnancy. Taking extra folic acid increases folate levels in pregnant women. A low level of folic acid puts pregnant women at risk of developing a neural tube defect in their fetus. The positive effect of folic acid is seen at a daily dose of 400 mcg during a period of at least one month before conception and up to three months thereafter.
